STARKVILLE, Miss.—Under the baton of 鶹ýAV Department of Music Head Barry E. Kopetz, the Starkville-鶹ýAVSymphony Orchestra is kicking off its 2018 concert series with a Saturday [Jan. 13] performance on the Starkville campus.

Taking place at 7:30 p.m. in historic Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium, the “Winter Winds” concert is sponsored by the Starkville-鶹ýAVSymphony Association. The evening program features works by three prolific composers from the 18th through 20th centuries—Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Serenade in B flat, K. 361” (Gran Partita); Franz Schubert’s “Little Symphony for Winds”; and Richard Strauss’s “Serenade in E flat, Op. 7.”

“All Starkville-鶹ýAVSymphony Orchestra performances are free and open to the public. We encourage individuals of all ages to come enjoy an evening of beautiful music,” said Ryan Landis, 鶹ýAVvoice instructor and SSO operations manager.

Founded in 1969, the Starkville-鶹ýAVSymphony Association is a nonprofit volunteer organization in which members work to educate, enlighten and share classical music with communities in the Golden Triangle region.
